Instead of trusting families—or even daring to trust the idea of competition and freedom—he’s proudly celebrating that he helped kill school choice in Texas. This is exactly the kind of liberal arrogance we’ve come to expect: politicians deciding what’s best for everyone else, while ignoring what’s actually happening in real classrooms.
Talarico claims the school choice movement isn’t about rights or fixing broken public schools. According to him, anyone pushing for choice just wants to go back to segregation. That’s right—when desperate parents just want their kids to have a shot at a good school, this man accuses them of wanting to roll back the clock seventy years. As if Democrats haven’t spent decades keeping minority kids trapped in failing government schools while their own children attend fancy private academies.
This is the height of hypocrisy. Liberals like Talarico rail against “inequality,” but when hard-working parents—especially those who can’t afford expensive ZIP codes—ask for options, those same liberals slam the door in their faces. It’s always the same game: keep all the power in government hands and never let parents call the shots.
School choice is simple American common sense. Competition makes everything better. It rewards excellence and gives families hope. Why do globalist elites and their local cronies fear it? Maybe because breaking the government’s monopoly on education means breaking their control over what kids learn. Heaven forbid students are exposed to different ideas—especially ones that don’t fit the left-wing script.
The real segregation is happening right now, right under the noses of liberals like Talarico. It’s enforced by bureaucrats who make sure parents have nowhere else to go but the same failing public schools—while they pat themselves on the back and call it “progress.” Who are the real extremists—families who want the best for their kids, or politicians desperate to keep power? Texas families deserve better than this arrogant nonsense.
