California politicians have truly outdone themselves this time. It’s not enough that they’ve already made driving in the state a nightmare with sky-high gas prices, endless traffic, and suffocating regulations. Now, Sacramento’s ruling elite have decided that your car tires—the very things that keep you moving—are the latest enemy in their never-ending war on drivers. Yes, you read that right. The bureaucrats aren’t happy unless they’re finding a new way to punish anyone who dares to own a car.
The pretense, as always, is the environment. According to their twisted logic, your tires are destroying the planet now. As if it wasn’t bad enough to pay extra for “clean” gas, jump through hoops for smog checks, or be forced into an electric vehicle you never wanted, now you have to worry about whether your tires have been blessed by the green gods of Sacramento. Of course, no one is talking about the cost. Replacing a full set of eco-approved tires will cost hardworking Californians hundreds—if not thousands—more every few years. That’s pocket change to the rich environmental activists running the show, but a disaster for everyone else.
It doesn’t end with tires. This is part of a pattern—one rule after another, chipping away at freedom under the excuse of saving the planet or fighting “climate change.” Car owners are taxed, surveilled, and squeezed at every turn. Meanwhile, the liberal elites who make the rules glide around in motorcades, jets, and private SUVs, unaffected by the pain they inflict on regular folks. Hypocrisy doesn’t even begin to cover it.
Who benefits from these insane policies? Certainly not the middle class. Global tire companies, green-obsessed lobbyists, and politicians happy to rake in campaign cash are the ones cashing in. Ordinary Californians, meanwhile, just want to get to work, pick up their kids, and live their lives. But that’s too much to ask in a state run by out-of-touch ideologues who can’t stand the thought of people having control over their own transportation.
Let’s call it what it is: an attack on freedom and common sense. If state lawmakers had their way, nobody would drive except them and their rich donors. Is this what passes for leadership—waging war on tires while the roads crumble, crime surges, and families struggle? California’s war on drivers isn’t about the planet. It’s about control. When will voters say enough is enough?
