WNBA slammed after players ignore anthem while one star shows true American pride

The WNBA loves to talk about “women’s empowerment”—unless, of course, it means standing up for the American flag. Once again, the league dropped the ball when it came to what should have been a simple, patriotic act. During the Indiana Fever versus Atlanta Dream matchup, the anthem played as usual. But instead of respecting America’s flag, many players just did their own thing, barely noticing the anthem at all. Why does the WNBA constantly refuse to address this glaring issue in its own backyard?

Let’s be real—the WNBA has a problem with patriotism. Players seem to care more about pushing woke narratives than honoring the country that gives them the freedom to play. The league has no problem promoting left-wing causes, but when it comes to basic respect for the nation, suddenly, they all go silent. Liberals are quick to attack anyone who demands accountability, yet they ignore their own disrespect for the flag.

Thankfully, there are a few athletes who haven’t lost their backbone. Sophie Cunningham stood out during the game. She actually showcased what real sportsmanship and respect look like. While others mumbled and scrolled, Cunningham stood tall and gave the anthem her full attention. She did what every American athlete should do—put country before personal politics.

This double standard is exhausting. If a player were to kneel or stage some anti-American protest, the WNBA would roll out the red carpet, showering them with press coverage and praise. But someone like Cunningham—who demonstrates authentic patriotism—barely gets noticed. It’s obvious: this is a league hijacked by the globalist, liberal crowd. They’d rather see mindless activism than true class on the court.

Americans are getting tired of watching their favorite sports become platforms for anti-American messages. The WNBA has a chance to reclaim its soul, but as long as it ignores simple acts of respect, fans will keep tuning out. Maybe it’s time for the WNBA to remember which flag put them on that court in the first place. Or has liberal poisoning gone so far that patriotism is now “offensive”?
