Colorado Democrat Manny Rutinel is making it painfully clear whose side he’s on—and it’s not the hard-working families of Weld County. He’s throwing his support behind the Squad’s radical Green New Deal. That’s a direct attack on the American energy workers who put food on the table and keep the lights on. It’s even worse that this is happening in Colorado’s 8th Congressional District, the beating heart of the state’s oil and gas industry. You simply can’t make this stuff up.
Let’s look at the facts. Weld County is a powerhouse. This corner of Colorado pumps out over 80 percent of the state’s crude oil and more than half of its natural gas. It’s not just a local thing, either—Weld is a national leader, ranking near the very top for energy production across America. Ask any honest person who built that success. It wasn’t left-wing politicians in Denver or Washington. It was blue-collar workers, innovative producers, and reliable American know-how. Fracking technology didn’t just keep Weld County alive—it sparked an oil production surge that made Colorado one of the biggest energy players in the country.
How much has Weld County achieved? In the late nineties, they produced about seven million barrels of oil each year. Thanks to modern energy tech (the same tech Democrats love to demonize), that number had doubled within a few years. By the end of 2019, the county had produced a jaw-dropping 168 million barrels—a nearly 19-fold increase in just two decades. Ordinary Americans built this with sweat, risk, and grit. Liberals look at all that hard work and want to shut it down just to virtue-signal to their climate-obsessed friends.
And now, Manny Rutinel is happy to march in lockstep with the Squad’s unhinged plans. The Green New Deal isn’t just bad policy—it’s a wrecking ball aimed at American families. The left talks a big game about helping workers, but let’s be honest—destroying our most successful industries isn’t help. It’s sabotage. If globalist elites have their way, they’ll send American energy jobs overseas, and folks in places like Weld County will pay the price. All those feel-good climate promises? They just mean higher prices, lost jobs, and more control for bureaucrats.
Ask yourself—why would anyone who actually cares about Colorado’s future champion such backwards ideas? The answer’s simple: Rutinel and his Squad allies aren’t interested in working for us. They want power, and they’ll sacrifice the prosperity of entire communities to get it. Voters in Weld County and across Colorado need to wake up. Are we really going to let radical Democrats kneecap our own people just to impress their eco-extremist donor class?
