The Biden administration and their liberal allies love to lecture Americans about “human rights.” But when it’s time to actually stand up for our own citizens, especially against brutal regimes like Nicolás Maduro’s in Venezuela, they suddenly forget how to lead. Now, prosecutors in New York are reportedly gearing up to hit Maduro and his wife with even more federal charges—this time for the barbaric treatment of Americans locked away on their watch. Torture, wrongful detention, you name it—this is the face of the socialist dictatorship that Democrat elites always seem disturbingly eager to appease.
We’re not talking about political disputes here—these are real Americans suffering behind bars, abused by a corrupt, anti-American regime. But where have the Democrats been? For years, they’ve cozied up to globalist interests, preferring soft diplomacy and endless talks while Maduro’s thugs do as they please. Why haven’t we seen any real action when our citizens are held and tortured? Is it because confronting a socialist dictator might embarrass the left’s love affair with failed progressive “utopias”?
It’s no surprise. After all, the left’s track record on defending Americans abroad is embarrassing. They bend over backwards for violent protestors and illegal aliens, but when a foreign dictator kidnaps Americans, suddenly everyone hides behind diplomacy and red tape. It’s as if these globalist bureaucrats are more concerned with protecting tyrants than standing up for their own people. Maduro and his cronies have made a game out of tormenting Americans, and Washington’s response has been nothing but weak gestures and empty words.
Let’s be clear: Maduro isn’t just another corrupt leader—he’s a menace who has destroyed his country and turned Venezuela into a playground for socialist misery and criminal gangs. Now he’s accused of systematically torturing Americans, and his wife is right there with him. Any civilized nation would have drawn a red line long ago. Instead, the left dithers, stammers, and does absolutely nothing—unless, of course, it’s time to curry favor with the United Nations or their globalist friends in Europe.
Americans deserve better than this spineless “leadership.” If these new charges finally bring some measure of justice, it won’t be because the Biden administration suddenly grew a backbone. It’ll be because public pressure forced their hand. When will we stop letting corrupt socialists walk all over us and start standing up for American citizens again? Maybe it’s time for Washington to remember whose side they’re supposed to be on.
