It’s happened again. A 66-year-old doctor out of Houston stands accused of scamming the American taxpayers for a jaw-dropping $30 million. How? By billing the federal government—yes, that’s your tax dollars—for supposedly providing COVID-related medical care that never even happened. That’s right, phantom patient visits, made up to rake in a personal windfall during a national crisis.
This is what happens when Washington doles out blank checks with zero accountability. Remember when career politicians and left-wing bureaucrats raced to flood the country with COVID cash? They insisted that “help” had to be fast—no time to check where the money went, no time for common sense. Well, look where it gets us: crooks making off with fortunes, while hardworking Americans foot the bill.
Liberals love to talk about compassion. But where’s the so-called compassion when criminals line their pockets with money meant for actual patients in need? Maybe if the folks running the show really cared about Americans, they’d worry less about virtue signaling on social media and more about protecting our country’s resources from greedy fraudsters.
Let’s not forget, this kind of lawlessness isn’t a bug of big government. It’s a feature. The more power Washington grabs, the easier it becomes for scammers to siphon off cash under the guise of emergencies. The elites keep promising us new, “life-saving” programs, but what we really get is corruption and waste.
America deserves better. If doctors and government can collude to rob us blind in broad daylight, how much more is being stolen behind the scenes? Maybe it’s time for less government, more oversight, and to finally hold the con artists—both inside and outside the system—accountable. If this is liberal progress, who needs it?
