America has waited far too long for real justice in the case of the Fort Hood killer—a terrorist who unleashed horror on our own soil, turned his back on everything this country stands for, and murdered 13 unarmed Americans in cold blood. Now, with the government finally preparing to deliver the justice that’s so overdue, the media elite and so-called experts are all in a frenzy about how it’s handled. They whine about how barbaric it would be to show the execution and clutch their pearls, but ignore the actual crime—mass murder carried out on a military base.
Vice President JD Vance is catching headlines this week for saying he won’t tune in if the government actually live-streams the execution of the Fort Hood shooter. And honestly, who can blame him? The entire idea of airing an execution like some twisted reality show says a lot about where our society is heading—thanks in no small part to the moral rot pushed by leftists in academia and the media. Executions aren’t TV entertainment. They’re about closure for victims and justice for Americans who suffered because the system allowed evil to fester.
Liberals have never cared about the families left behind. They preach forgiveness and hand-wring over “human rights” for monsters, but they won’t bat an eye at the eternal pain of thirteen Gold Star families. The left would rather drag out appeals for decades, give free healthcare to a terrorist, and debate whether he can wear his beard in court, instead of ending the nightmare. It’s always about the rights of the criminal—never justice for the innocent.
There is a sick irony here. The same globalist class that rushes to protect the privacy and dignity of mass murderers rarely pauses to protect law-abiding Americans or our troops. Our soldiers put their lives on the line for this country, only to see liberal elites balk at punishing one of their killers, worried more about “optics” than about restoring honor and order. The only thing liberals seem to execute is common sense.
Everyone knows the left loves the spectacle—the outrage, the controversy, the divisive talking points. But accountability? Forget it. Maybe that’s why so many Americans are tired of hand-wringing politicians and spineless bureaucrats. Those who stand firm, like Vance, show the backbone the country used to expect from its leaders. Isn’t it about time we stopped obsessing over criminals and started standing up again for the victims and the values that make America great?
