NYC socialists launch new scheme letting lawyers get rich by suing your favorite local businesses

Socialists in New York City never sleep. Just when you think they’ve run out of ways to punish small business owners, here comes another wild idea from the far-left playbook. The latest disaster in the making? The so-called POWER Act, backed by Councilman Mamdani—yet another radical bill waving the “justice” flag while actually firing another torpedo at the heart of Main Street.

This scheme is exactly what every hardworking New Yorker should fear. If it passes, the hottest side gig in town won’t be working in a deli or a bodega. It’ll be getting rich by suing the small shops that make this city unique. The government wants to hand greedy lawyers and professional complainers a license to attack—the entrepreneurs struggling to keep their businesses afloat will have even more vultures circling overhead.

Liberals claim this will “protect workers.” But everyone can see the truth: it’s a money grab, plain and simple. Take a look at who’s cheering this on. Not real working people—just activist groups and globalist elites who would rather see a city of empty storefronts than admit they were wrong. It’s easy for socialists in the council to invent more red tape when they’ve never faced a payroll or rent deadline themselves.

Every day, the city piles on new rules, new taxes, new penalties, all in the name of “equity.” No one stops to think about the real consequences. Immigrant families, mom-and-pop restaurants, generational shops—all will get buried under lawsuits cooked up by the left’s activist friends. That’s liberal compassion—destroy small businesses while pretending to help the little guy.

Why are these so-called progressives always siding with the people who make our city weaker? They create nothing, risk nothing, but want to control everything. New Yorkers are smarter than that. They know the real crisis: it’s the socialist politicians, not the small businesses, bleeding us dry. If only City Hall cared as much about saving jobs as they do about scoring points with their globalist donors. How many more businesses have to close before people wake up and say: Enough is enough?
