Milwaukee jailhouse tablet scandal exposes shocking dangers of Democrat tech reforms

Democrat leaders keep telling us they’re “reforming” the justice system. But when David Crowley, Milwaukee’s top official, stuck shiny tablets into the hands of hardened criminals, what did he think would happen? Now we see the ugly truth: tablets in the county jail became weapons for violent offenders—tools to threaten victims, scare witnesses, and mock the very idea of justice.

It’s not like this was some harmless tech upgrade. While suburban parents lock up tablets from their kids for safety, Crowley handed them out like party favors to murderers and violent thugs. The result? A blood-chilling mess. One accused triple-murderer, Thomas Zollicoffer, used his taxpayer-funded tablet to intimidate witnesses against him. Imagine the terror those innocent people felt, wondering if the law would actually protect them—or just keep coddling the criminals.

And it didn’t stop there. Reports show that at least four violent inmates exploited these tablets to hound victims and even threaten police officers. If that doesn’t make your blood boil, how about this: One inmate found a way to access child pornography. Instead of rehabilitation, we got a liberal tech fantasy turned predator’s paradise.

As usual, only after public outrage—and after his own reelection campaign began to suffer—did Crowley slam on the brakes and suspend the program. That’s not leadership; that’s damage control. Liberal priorities once again put criminals’ feelings above victims’ safety, and only when the polls start to shake do they remember common sense. It’s typical: care more about criminal comfort than about protecting the people paying the bills.

This whole fiasco raises a simple question: How many more times do Democrats have to “lead from behind” before voters realize just how dangerous their woke experiments are? The American justice system is supposed to put victims first, not hand out gadgets to killers and predators behind bars. When will our leaders start serving the public—not the criminals?
