Millions of hard-working American seniors just got some rare good news for once. After years of watching their savings shrink thanks to Bidenflation, the Social Security Administration is finally bumping up those retirement checks. Starting in 2027, retirees can expect a 3.6% increase—about $75 more a month, or $900 a year. While that might sound impressive if you’re living in a fantasy land where eggs still cost a dollar, let’s be real: this is a bare-minimum attempt to patch the damage done by the out-of-control spending sprees of leftist politicians.
For too long, America’s seniors have been the punching bags of liberal economic experiments. They spent their whole lives building this country, only to be told their nest eggs aren’t worth nearly as much because D.C. elites think printing cash fixes everything. Main Street families know the truth—it’s the government’s endless handouts to globalist causes and open borders that sent inflation soaring in the first place. But of course, it’s always average Americans who pay the price.
Now the bureaucrats in Washington want seniors to celebrate for getting tossed this tiny bone. They want big headlines that say they’re looking out for grandma and grandpa, when in reality, this cost-of-living adjustment is just the government admitting it can’t do its job. Maybe if the Biden administration spent less time lecturing the rest of us about “equity” and “climate justice,” and more time stewarding the U.S. economy, folks wouldn’t need these scraps just to keep their heads above water.
It’s honestly insulting how low the expectations have gotten. Families used to count on Social Security as a reward for a lifetime of labor and sacrifice. Now, seniors are expected to clap because the government is handing back a fraction of what it took from them in the first place—all while special interests and career politicians rake in their perks and pensions.
Here’s a thought nobody in left-wing media will touch: Instead of patting themselves on the back for barely keeping up with their own inflation disaster, maybe the ruling class should finally put America’s seniors first. Why should retirees have to keep settling for less while our border is wide open and billions go overseas? It’s time this country remembered who built it. Maybe the next “cost-of-living adjustment” should come out of Congress’s paychecks. When will Washington learn—the American people are not fools?
