Once again, the liberals in charge are taking aim at tradition—and thousands of working families—just for the sake of signaling their own virtue. New York City’s far-left Mayor, Zohran Mamdani, has decided the iconic horse-drawn carriage rides will soon be gone, made extinct by his own radical agenda. For generations, these beautiful carriages represented the soul of Central Park, linked families to history, and gave hardworking New Yorkers a living. Now, all that is being flushed away by a man more concerned with pleasing animal rights extremists and globalist elites than serving regular citizens.
This is what happens when woke ideologues get too much power. Outsiders who’ve never had to earn a dollar with their own hands are eager to wipe out jobs, just to claim they’re “progressive.” The left claims to care about workers, but what does shutting down the horse carriage industry actually do? It puts middle-class drivers out of work, tosses aside stable hands, feeds more families into the welfare system, and tramples on the living history that makes America unique. Liberals talk endlessly about “saving jobs,” but their reckless decisions show the complete opposite.
These politicians cry about “animal welfare,” yet they’re blind to human suffering right before their eyes. The horses in Central Park are lovingly cared for, far better than most pets in city apartments. Shutting down an entire industry because of a few loud protesters is cowardice, not leadership. But, of course, the Mayor isn’t interested in the facts. He answers to activist mobs and faceless global interests, not to the people who built this city from the ground up.
There’s also the glaring hypocrisy. How many eco-friendly policies from City Hall have taken money from working families, all while suburbs enjoy their private green spaces and elite donors are chauffeured in gas-guzzling SUVs? It seems the rules never apply to the ruling class—they only hammer on those everyday Americans just trying to make a living. Liberals will gladly demolish our culture, traditions, and livelihoods, as long as it gets them another headline and a pat on the back from European bureaucrats.
The sad truth is simple: left-wing leaders like Mamdani want to erase anything that smells like real American heritage. Where does it end? First they kill carriage rides, next they’ll tell us what hobbies, words, or holidays we’re allowed to enjoy. When liberals are finished flattening our history, will there be anything left that makes New York—or America—special? Or will we all just ride the subway, thinking about what was taken from us?
