France is melting down again, but anyone watching shouldn’t be surprised. This week, radical left-wing unions decided to join the so-called “youth revolt” protests that have turned French streets into chaos. Why? They’re demanding higher wages—because apparently, no amount of government handouts is ever enough for these groups. Students, barely out of high school, have been blocking schools and complaining about “education conditions” for weeks now, as if France doesn’t already spend billions on social programs and public schools that churn out entitled protestors rather than hardworking citizens.
Only in a country beholden to socialist dreams could these walkouts be seen as noble instead of foolish. The left wants everyone to believe this is about justice or fairness, but it’s really just another power grab. The unions are hungry for control and more of taxpayers’ money, and they’ll use angry young people as their foot soldiers. No lessons, just lessons in looting.
It’s embarrassing to see adults—supposed leaders—throw in with these spoiled activists. Instead of teaching personal responsibility or hard work, the unions show them how to shout, block roads, and demand handouts. Is this what passes for leadership in Europe now? Burning time in the streets for “higher wages” with no thought to how jobs are created or how the economy works?
Liberals around the world cheer this kind of unrest. They pretend it’s brave. But what are they really supporting? Mob rule, empty slogans, and never-ending demands for more free stuff. That’s what happens when a nation bows over and over to socialist pressure. The result is always the same—stagnation, bloat, and a country losing its edge.
France’s problems are a warning sign for America. When the left takes over, mobs replace merit. The mob always wants more. Will Americans learn from France’s failure, or will we keep letting entitled activists and their union backers demand more without giving anything back? The choice is clear—stand up for real work and real values, or end up like France: trapped in a cycle of protests, payoffs, and decline.
