The left never learns. Every time the so-called “global elite” discusses easing sanctions on Russia, they throw common sense out the window. Just look at what’s happening right now. Vladimir Putin’s war machine is showering Ukraine with missiles, not caring if those targets have any military value. A missile just turned a housing complex in Pryluky—a quiet Ukrainian town with no use in war—into nothing but rubble and tragedy. Innocent civilians were wiped out. Even children weren’t spared.
This is the cost when liberals flirt with lifting sanctions. Each time the West tries to be “reasonable” with Russia and loosen the rules, Putin’s pockets get fatter. His military grows stronger. And Ukrainians pay with their lives. What exactly do the globalists think more Russian oil and cash are going to buy? Peace? All it buys are more missiles to launch at families sleeping in their beds.
Where is the outrage from the international talking heads who claim to stand up for democracy? They’re strangely quiet while ordinary people bleed in places far from the front lines. Their “humanitarian” rhetoric is just hot air. Sanctions are one of the few tools that actually squeeze Putin, yet the left wants to hand him a get-out-of-jail-free card. Why? To look “diplomatic” at cocktail parties in Brussels? To keep the cheap energy flowing for their green energy “transitions”?
Weak leadership invites violence. Putin only understands strength. He mocks every apology, every loophole, every knee-bending negotiation from the West. If America stops applying pressure, Putin’s regime is emboldened, and civilians across Ukraine—whether on the frontline or not—bear the bloody brunt of our cowardice.
Propping up dictators is not “pragmatic.” Rewarding Russia’s brutality with easier sanctions is just financing the next atrocity. How many more innocent people have to die before liberal leaders wake up? Or do they really care more about their reputation than about stopping a tyrant? The answer, sadly, is becoming painfully clear.
