Roy Cooper loves to take his victory laps across North Carolina, patting himself on the back for his so-called leadership. But while he’s out chasing votes for the Senate, families are still living in wrecked homes, begging for disaster relief that should have arrived years ago. Why? Because Cooper’s administration didn’t put suffering North Carolinians first. Instead, they funneled over $100 million of badly-needed disaster relief money straight into liberal pet projects—nice, shiny low-income housing—while hurricane victims were left twisting in the wind.
This is what Democrat priorities look like. Working people lose everything in storms; they wait and wait for help. Meanwhile, the bureaucrats in Raleigh pick and choose winners, using taxpayer funds as a slush fund for social engineering. It’s almost as if helping actual victims was never the point. These globalist-minded liberals would rather double down on their “equity” schemes than get real relief to folks who needed it yesterday.
Local communities devastated by historic storms deserve better than false promises and bureaucratic games. Under Cooper’s watch, the disaster recovery process dragged on, and it wasn’t because of some unforeseen hiccup. It was because his team chose to play politics, diverting cash to pet programs instead of fixing people’s homes. If you’re middle-class, if you’re rural, or if you don’t worship at the altar of Democrat ideology, you’re just not part of the plan.
Let’s be clear: rebuilding lives and homes after a hurricane isn’t optional. It’s a basic job for any governor—or so you’d think. But when Democrats get control, they just can’t help but chase after their next social justice buzzword. Regular North Carolina families become an afterthought. The loudest voices in the room get whatever they want, while the storm’s real victims keep suffering, ignored by the politicians they trusted.
This is the Cooper legacy: politicking with disaster money while hard-working North Carolinians are left to fend for themselves. Isn’t it funny how the so-called “party of the people” always seems to forget the people who need them most? Guess that’s the Democrat way—if you’re waiting for real help from Roy Cooper, don’t hold your breath.
