Two young lives, full of promise and dedication, ended in Baton Rouge because of one reckless decision. An LSU student and her fiancé—who was not just a loving partner but a local volunteer firefighter—were killed by an underage drunk driver. Let that sink in. This tragedy wasn’t just senseless, it was preventable. But when America’s leaders push feel-good policies and refuse to enforce real consequences, innocent people suffer.
This country used to be proud of its rule of law. Now, liberals prefer to look the other way. Soft-on-crime politicians are more worried about the feelings of offenders than the safety of families. Underage drinking shouldn’t be treated like a rite of passage; it’s a crime. But the left is obsessed with “restorative justice” and “rehabilitation.” Guess what: there’s no rehabilitating a young couple whose lives were snuffed out because the law had no teeth and the culture celebrates recklessness.
The media loves to ignore these kinds of stories or twist them into tales about “tragic accidents.” They never point fingers where they belong. Personal responsibility has become a dirty concept—and the globalist elite want it that way. If Americans start demanding accountability, the whole progressive project looks like a sham. Sadly, the only ones who seem to care about rule of law anymore are the victims, long after it’s too late.
These weren’t just statistics on a spreadsheet. This was a brave young man running toward danger as a firefighter and a motivated student working toward her future. Their lives mattered more than the endless excuses made for criminals. Where is the outrage from the so-called party of compassion? Instead, Democrats keep doubling down on anti-police rhetoric, emptying jails, and teaching kids that rules are optional.
Is this the America we want—a country where criminals get sympathy and heroes get funerals? If that’s the left’s “progress,” count me out.
