Once again, big government wants to babysit America’s kids, but they can’t even do that right. Over in Pennsylvania, lawmakers just voted for a so-called “bell to bell” ban on student cell phone use during school hours. Liberals are patting themselves on the back, pretending this move will finally bring order and focus back to public schools. But anyone who’s paying attention knows this ban is a joke—and a dangerous one at that.
The left-wing crowd in the state House pushed this policy through despite a flood of warnings. Instead of having the guts to actually create real rules and enforce them, they went for a half-baked plan that even they admit is full of loopholes. The truth is, plenty of students will find ways to sneak around the so-called ban. The bill is such a mess, it wouldn’t shock anyone if it ended up causing even more chaos than we already have.
Let’s be honest: this isn’t about discipline or improving learning. It’s just another smoke-and-mirrors act to distract parents and taxpayers from the disaster public schools have become under leftist leadership. Liberals brought us schools overrun by woke propaganda and out-of-control classrooms, and now they want a participation trophy for pretending to crack down on cell phones.
And you know what’s really wild? These are the same Democrats who screech about “equity” and “student rights” every chance they get. Suddenly, they’re happy to police minors’ property—unless, of course, it doesn’t fit their agenda. Typical progressive hypocrisy. When it comes to pushing their own failed ideas, they don’t care whose freedoms get trampled.
Pennsylvania’s weak-kneed “cell phone ban” proves once again you can’t count on big government to fix problems it created in the first place. If parents want real discipline and accountability, they’re not going to get it from liberal bureaucrats who can’t even keep track of their own disastrous policies. Maybe it’s time to admit: the only ban America really needs is a ban on leftist incompetence.
