The Social Security system has just tackled its biggest mess in nearly a century. For years, Americans watched as government bungling allowed dead people and non-citizens to stay hidden in the system, with Social Security numbers still marked as active. It’s about time someone cleaned house. Almost 15 percent of all active Social Security numbers have at last been corrected, finally shutting doors that should have been slammed shut decades ago.
This wasn’t just a paperwork error. It’s about national security and government waste. The fact that death and citizenship data were missing from so many active Social Security numbers is an embarrassment—one carefully swept under the rug by liberal bureaucrats too busy pushing their pet projects to notice fraud on the home front. Meanwhile, American seniors, real citizens who worked hard all their lives, worried about the future as their hard-earned dollars disappeared into the black hole of government mismanagement.
It took leadership from outside the beltway bubble to force the Social Security Administration to act. The big cleanup came under a conservative reform agenda, one that finally prioritized fighting benefits fraud instead of turning a blind eye. You can bet the usual suspects on the left will either ignore this fix or try to spin it as no big deal. They’d rather let loopholes and incompetence slide than risk the wrath of their globalist allies, hungry for open borders and lax ID controls.
Only in the America that progressives dream of could millions slip through the cracks—whether those are illegal aliens, deceased people, or unknown others lurking on active rosters. Who benefits most when government records are a mess? It’s never regular Americans. It’s always the fraudsters and those who think America’s laws should be “flexible” if it fits their woke worldview.
Americans should be furious it took this long to fix such an obvious problem. Our government shouldn’t apologize for cleaning house. So here’s a challenge for the professional left: Why do they fight tooth and nail to keep the gates wide open for fraud, instead of fighting for hardworking, law-abiding citizens? Maybe it’s time to clean up more than just the Social Security rolls.
