Once again, the Supreme Court refuses to do its job and protect Americans’ gun rights. Maine just slipped in a new law forcing law-abiding citizens to wait three full days before they can bring home a firearm. It’s the kind of scheme that feels straight out of the playbook for liberals who care more about virtue signaling than real safety. Governor Janet Mills, a Democrat, didn’t even have the backbone to sign the bill. She let it become law anyway—claiming she was “conflicted.” That’s what passes for leadership from the Left these days: waffling and letting radical policies sneak through the back door.
This is what happens when out-of-touch politicians and activist judges ignore the Constitution. They slap new restrictions on the honest people, while criminals—who don’t follow the law anyway—walk free. Does anybody seriously believe a robber or would-be killer will just politely wait 72 hours to buy a gun? Maine’s leaders aren’t stopping crime; they’re only stopping regular folks from defending themselves and their families.
The liberal playbook depends on making everything harder for responsible Americans. It’s another chip away at our Second Amendment rights. You have to wonder: who do these people really represent? Citizens who want safety, or globalist elites that would rather see Americans disarmed and powerless? This law won’t do a darn thing to stop violence. But it does prove one thing—liberals don’t trust you. They’ll use emotion and confusion as excuses to strip away your freedoms, one inch at a time.
Where’s the outrage? Where are the so-called champions of liberty when it really matters? The Supreme Court’s silence sends a clear message: our rights can be limited by anti-gun activists in any state, anytime. If we let these laws stack up, pretty soon Americans won’t have the right to defend themselves at all.
This isn’t about being “conflicted.” It’s about courage—or a total lack of it from Maine’s governor and every official who lets these unconstitutional laws slide. If we can’t count on our leaders or our courts to defend basic freedom, who will? Maybe it’s time for Americans to remind the elites in charge: you work for us, not the gun-control lobby.
