NYC politicians wage war on Amazon and end up crushing dreams of minority business owners

New York’s radical City Council thinks it’s striking a blow against corporate greed. But in their blinkered crusade against Amazon, these woke politicians are actually steamrolling over the dreams of hardworking, minority business owners—and crushing thousands of good jobs in the process. It’s a textbook example of the left’s twisted priorities: signal virtue, punish success, and ignore the real-world fallout for the little guy.

Their so-called Delivery Protection Act is billed as defending workers. In reality, it’s a full-on attack on the backbone of the city’s economy: small, minority-owned businesses that built delivery routes with sweat, grit, and long hours. These aren’t fat-cat CEOs; these are entrepreneurs trying to put food on the table for their families, and help their communities thrive.

What’s especially outrageous is that even the National Urban League, a group that rarely breaks from the left’s playbook, is sounding the alarm about this job-killing plan. If you’ve lost the Urban League, you know you’ve gone too far. But the council’s activists don’t care. Hurting Amazon is worth any collateral damage—even if that means families losing paychecks and neighborhoods losing opportunity.

How can liberals claim to stand with minorities and workers when their policies do the exact opposite? Once again, the far left’s obsession with punishing business drowns out any sense of common sense—or compassion. Instead of empowering those trying to climb the ladder, they just yank it away, leaving people scrambling on the ground.

This isn’t about protecting anyone. It’s petty, spiteful politics—plain and simple. When City Council lefties care more about sticking it to Amazon than helping minorities succeed, whose side are they really on? America deserves better than these self-sabotaging, hypocritical policies.
