Big Tech just got a big slap—and it still wasn’t enough for the left. In New Mexico, a judge handed Meta a $25 billion bill for playing fast and loose with Facebook’s so-called privacy “promises.” But get this—the state’s liberal leaders actually wanted $40 billion! That’s right, these supposed champions of the people still wanted their pound of flesh, no matter how outrageous the number.
Are we really supposed to believe that New Mexico’s political class cares about privacy? They’ve been cozying up to Silicon Valley for years, cashing in on Big Tech’s influence while letting Americans’ data get sold to the highest bidder. Now, they pretend to play hero by raking in massive windfalls for themselves. It’s politics as usual: the left wrecks something, then pretends to fix it—with your money.
43 million violations? That’s the claim. Sure, Big Tech deserves to get knocked down a peg for stomping on users’ rights, but isn’t it funny how it only happens when there’s a state-sized payday involved? The Democrats in charge always seem to find a way to turn other people’s misery into a new revenue stream.
This is the same crowd that’s happy to censor conservative voices online, ship American jobs overseas, and cozy up to globalist interests. Suddenly, they claim to be the voice of justice against corporations? Please. This isn’t about protecting everyday folks; it’s about flexing government muscle and squeezing more out of Silicon Valley for themselves.
Maybe Meta deserves a taste of its own medicine, but don’t let the left fool you into thinking this is about the little guy. For them, it’s always about the money and control. Does anyone really think the people of New Mexico will see a dime—except for some politician’s next pet project? The only thing bigger than this fine is the hypocrisy behind it.
