Another day, another example of what happens when liberals run our welfare system into the ground. News out of Pennsylvania proves it: a government worker — someone trusted to help those truly in need with food assistance — now stands accused of running her own welfare scam. Instead of helping hungry families, this Lehigh County welfare coordinator allegedly swiped more than $20,000 in taxpayer-funded food stamps to feed her own drug habit. Not for groceries, but for crack cocaine.
This is the ugly truth the left doesn’t want you to see. When government gets too big, corruption spreads like wildfire. While law-abiding Americans struggle with rising grocery bills, open borders, and endless inflation, bureaucrats with cushy government jobs are turning programs meant to fight hunger into personal piggy banks for drugs and crime. As usual, taxpayers get left holding the bag.
These are the real consequences of endless handouts and failed oversight. Liberals want everyone to believe their welfare programs are saving America’s poor. In reality, their hands-off approach saves criminals and cheats — while honest families trying to do the right thing are forced to fork over even more of their paychecks. How many more “coordinators” like Sheila McDonald are trading EBT cards for street drugs right now, all while politicians swan about talking “equity”?
The left cries about “food insecurity,” but ignores who’s really insecure — the people who actually foot the bill and watch the system fall apart. Fraud is everywhere but the only solution offered is more government. How much of that so-called aid is winding up in the pockets of dealers and scammers? And why aren’t Democrats pushing for serious reform, or better yet, accountability?
The American dream wasn’t built on crack pipes and stolen EBT cards. Until someone demands real responsibility from welfare bureaucrats and criminals alike, hardworking taxpayers will be stuck paying for both the needy and the greedy. Maybe it’s time to stop trusting liberals to run a lemonade stand, much less the welfare office.
