Hollywood used to give us real men. Tom Skerritt was one of them. Not cut from the weak, self-obsessed cloth of today’s radical left-wing celebrities. Skerritt wanted to be a fighter pilot—imagine that! A young man dreaming of serving his country, not cowering in a safe space or preaching globalist nonsense at awards shows. He was patriotic, the kind of American young people should look up to—not just another Hollywood drone.
When that fighter pilot dream didn’t pan out, Skerritt didn’t protest in the streets or ask for a government handout. He dug in and found another path. He tried directing, writing, and eventually, acting. Not because he needed the spotlight, but because he saw it as a tool. Acting, for Skerritt, was a way to beat his own shyness, not a megaphone to rant about supposed “oppression” and whine about climate change. He did his job, and he did it with humility—a lesson lost on many of the woke actors clogging up the news today.
Skerritt’s story is proof that real Americans don’t need the government or Hollywood elites telling them how to live. He faced challenges, adapted, and kept going. He didn’t play victim or try to rewrite history to fit some leftist agenda. He lived on his own terms, and his career proves that hard work, grit, and a little self-reliance can take you farther than any diversity quota ever will.
It’s a shame his kind are rare these days. If more actors followed Skerritt’s example, maybe Hollywood wouldn’t be so bloated with virtue signaling and anti-American propaganda. Instead of whining about America’s supposed “flaws,” stars like Skerritt represented the rugged, can-do spirit that built this nation. Today’s studios chase empty trends and lecture Middle America—instead of celebrating the values ordinary Americans actually care about.
Tom Skerritt didn’t just act. He lived. He showed us that you become a legend by refusing to bow to pressure, by acting with simple dignity. Funny how the best examples come from men who aren’t desperate for celebrity. Maybe that’s why Hollywood—and the liberal media—barely appreciate what they’ve lost.
