NYC just made it nearly impossible to sell your home without left-wing groups grabbing it first

The New York City Council just pulled a fast one, shoving through a measure that spits in the face of private property rights. While most people were worried about rising prices and crime, politicians were sneaking around passing a scheme that would make Karl Marx proud. They call it the “Community Opportunity for Purchase Act,” but don’t let the friendly name fool you—the real goal is clear: give community groups and government-backed nonprofits the first shot at grabbing people’s property before citizens can even list it freely.

Under this plan, some New Yorkers can’t even put their building or home on the market right away. Instead, they have to wait a whopping 90 days while these so-called “community land trusts” get first dibs. This isn’t about helping struggling families. It’s about paving the way for government cronies and activist groups to scoop up more and more real estate, all under the smiling mask of “community investment.” This looks more like a training run for outright property seizures than anything else.

Liberals love to talk about fairness and choice—unless it means letting everyday Americans freely sell what they own. So much for the American Dream, where you work hard and control your own fate. The left apparently wants to “protect” neighborhoods by blocking honest transactions, bullying small property owners, and playing favorites.

This is just one more front in the left’s war on private ownership. First they came for your gun rights, then your gas stoves. Now, they don’t even want you to decide when or to whom you can sell your own property. It’s always the same playbook: more government control, less freedom for everyone else. The only people who benefit are well-connected activists and globalist nonprofits out for a slice of New York real estate.

Anyone who still believes today’s progressives care about real liberty should open their eyes to this latest power grab. If bureaucrats in New York can rig the market, what’s next? Will Americans stand by while politicians give away their homes piece by piece, all in the name of “community”? Or is it finally time to put a stop to the left’s endless assault on what makes this nation great?
