Liberal media slams Israel for protecting Christians while ignoring real Iranian terror threats

This past weekend, a so-called “controversy” erupted in Jerusalem, and once again the leftist media wasted no time spinning up the outrage machine. Why? Because Israeli police dared to take security seriously at one of Christianity’s holiest sites. The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, was momentarily blocked from holding a private Palm Sunday Mass at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Cue the usual suspects screaming about “grave precedents” and religious discrimination—while conveniently ignoring what actually drove the decision: credible Iranian threats targeting the site.

Let’s be clear: Israel is caught in the crosshairs of anti-Christian, anti-Jewish, and anti-Western extremists daily. Iranian-sponsored radicals had just taken aim at this very church in the weeks prior. Israeli officials acted out of genuine concern for the safety of the Cardinal and his associates. Yet, instead of supporting the country that stands as the Middle East’s only beacon for religious freedom, the liberal international chorus rushed to snipe at Israel for “overreach.” What would they do if terrorists were threatening one of their own local cathedrals? Absolutely nothing—except maybe put up a rainbow flag and hope the thugs go away.

Thankfully, Israel’s leaders moved quickly. Prime Minister Netanyahu demanded officials let the Cardinal in and publicly laid out the real reason for the brief restriction—protection from Islamic terror, not some imagined anti-Christian bias. President Herzog personally apologized, proving once again that Israel holds itself to a higher standard than any of its critics.

But the radical Left won’t let facts get in the way of a good outrage cycle. Ambassadors and international busybodies lined up to call the situation “hard to understand,” as if self-defense now requires their permission. Meanwhile, opponents of Israel are ecstatic to paint a crisis out of Israeli caution, saying it sets a “precedent.” Please. The only precedent here is that Israel actually values Christian lives — more than most of Europe’s so-called enlightened elites.

Despite all the noise, Cardinal Pizzaballa later clarified that Israeli authorities showed nothing but respect and politeness as they addressed a real security threat. He went on to bless Jerusalem and celebrate Mass elsewhere, untouched by any actual hostility. The story ended safely—no thanks to the virtue-signaling critics clamoring for Israel’s downfall at every turn.

Funny how nobody’s demanding answers from Iran, the ones lobbing threats at holy sites. But then again, calling out real villains isn’t in vogue among liberals and globalists—their rage is reserved for those who try to keep Western civilization intact. Maybe they should ask themselves whose side they’re really on.
