Governor Kathy Hochul is back at it again, showing New Yorkers just how out of touch Albany has become under liberal leadership. She’s cooked up a budget that’s absolutely massive—$263 billion for next year. That’s a mountain of taxpayer dollars, climbing 4.5% higher than last year. Instead of finding ways to ease the crushing cost of living in this state, she’s pouring more gasoline on the fire.
Medicaid gets a jaw-dropping 10% boost in this budget spree. You heard that right. Hochul is handing out even more free stuff, but not to hardworking families who need tax relief—she’s sending it straight to the ever-hungry Medicaid machine. This isn’t compassion. It’s fiscal suicide. New York is already drowning in sky-high taxes, and Hochul wants to shove us deeper underwater just to please the left’s never-ending hunger for big government handouts.
Guess what happens next? Middle-class families will get squeezed even harder. Working New Yorkers are tired of getting punished for doing the right thing. Under Hochul’s “leadership,” the American Dream skips right over Main Street and lands in the laps of bureaucrats and interest groups. Globalists and their friends in the Albany swamp are cheering, but regular folks just watch their wallets get emptier year after year.
Hochul had a rare chance to actually make New York more affordable. But, as usual, she’s showing just how weak and timid liberal leaders become when it’s time to stand up to the special interests calling the shots. Instead of breaking the cycle, she’s doubling down—proving she cares more about pleasing radicals than actually helping families keep their lights on.
How much more can New Yorkers take? Hochul could have cut waste, freed up businesses, and stood up for real Americans. But no, she chose to cave yet again. Will she ever find the backbone to put everyday citizens first, or is she content to be just another pawn for big government socialists?
