Democrats love to talk tough on gun crime—until a real criminal walks right in front of them. Chicago is the poster child for their failures, and the latest example is almost too stupid to believe. Two men, just 19 and 20 years old, allegedly surrounded a 17-year-old at a Green Line train station and robbed him. One of them, barely out of jail, had been arrested for carrying an illegal gun at the exact same spot less than a year before. That’s right. The liberal justice system allowed a guy caught with an illegal firearm back onto the same street corner so he could stick up a teenager.
How does this keep happening? It’s simple. The radicals running Chicago and other blue cities refuse to get serious about real crime. A kid gets threatened, robbed, and traumatized—by the same thug police already dragged off the train platform once before. The judges and politicians shrug and let these guys walk, acting surprised when the violence gets worse.
Here’s the real insult: The left loves to preach about background checks, magazine bans, and restricting your Second Amendment rights. But when a real criminal is caught red-handed, they bend over backwards to show leniency. They want to punish the law-abiding American who owns a gun, while letting actual thugs out on bail before the ink on their paperwork is even dry.
It’s impossible not to wonder if there’s something more sinister at play. Are these left-wing bureaucrats so clueless, or do they actually want chaos in the streets—because it gives them an excuse to demand more control over everyone else? Every time liberals fail to lock up real criminals, crime goes up. And every time crime goes up, they whine that law-abiding gun owners need to give up just a little more freedom. How convenient.
Liberals can scream about equity and social justice all they want—the facts speak for themselves. Real lives are being ruined by their soft-on-crime policies. If the folks running Chicago were in charge of a lemonade stand, it would be bankrupt by lunchtime. So here’s the question: When will Americans wake up and realize that the biggest threat to their safety isn’t the gun in your safe—it’s the judge on the bench, and the leftist behind the paperwork, setting criminals loose right back into the neighborhood?
