Washington, D.C. has always been known as the swamp—but not just because of its muggy summers or those frustrating clouds of politicians always chasing the next handout. For years, the left has loved to repeat the story about America’s capital being built right on top of an actual swamp. Turns out, that’s just another tall tale. Most of D.C. was never a swamp at all. Just more liberal myth-making, trying to rewrite facts that don’t fit their drama-filled narrative.
Funny enough, now the Forest Service—one of those federal agencies packed with bureaucrats who couldn’t tell a pine from a pothole—is finally realizing they’ve been living in the wrong place all along. They’ve decided to pack up and move out of D.C. to be closer to real forests. Imagine that! Maybe if more government agencies actually spent time among the people and resources they’re supposed to protect, instead of sipping lattes in marble hallways, things might finally get done right in this country.
It’s hilarious how the bureaucrats and their pals in the mainstream media won’t talk about this move. The Forest Service is literally ditching the phony “swamp” for the real woods—but no headlines about that. Could it be because it shows how out-of-touch Washington types actually are? Maybe it’s because sending jobs and decision-making out of the D.C. bubble threatens the cocktail party crowd’s grip on power.
Let’s be honest—most agencies in D.C. would be more useful if they spent less time schmoozing with lobbyists and more time actually doing their jobs. The left is terrified at the thought of losing control. They love to regulate, tax, and tinker from their cushy offices, but when forced to get their boots dirty, they run for cover. Real work, real Americans, and real forests don’t fit their agenda.
Sending the Forest Service out to where the woods actually are is just common sense. Maybe, just maybe, this is the start of untangling the mess of big government and putting power back where it belongs—in the hands of regular folks, not elitist bureaucrats who couldn’t identify a maple tree if their government pension depended on it. Makes you wonder—who’s next to flee the fake “swamp” now that the truth’s come out?
