There was a time when late-night comedy was meant to bring Americans together with a few laughs before bed. Now, the so-called “comics” on shows like Saturday Night Live just push hate, division, and dangerous ideas straight into our living rooms. Over the weekend, the SNL stage was once again used as a platform for cheap shots and ugly jokes about President Donald Trump—this time, drawing applause for a joke about his assassination. Yes, you read that right: the audience cheered on a sick comment about killing a sitting American president, right before one of the holiest days in the Christian year.
Let’s be honest. If anyone on TV made a similar joke about a Democrat president, or vaguely threatened any darling of the woke left, cancellation would be instant. There would be groveling apologies, cries of outrage from every corner of Hollywood, and probably a dozen petitions for someone’s head on a platter. But because it’s Trump—and because Trump stands up to the globalist, America-last agenda—he’s an easy target for the left’s twisted humor. The double standard is as glaring as ever.
The real problem isn’t just the morally bankrupt “joke”—it’s the audience, the crowd of liberal elites clapping, whooping, and egging it on. This is the sickness of modern entertainment: encouraging violence, disrespect, and hatred against anyone who refuses to bow before the liberal mob. It’s proof, plain as day, that Hollywood’s so-called comedians don’t care about unity or civility—only about silencing anyone who dares to think differently.
It’s especially disgusting when you remember the timing. Right as families around America prepared to celebrate Easter, NBC thought it was a good moment to turn prime-time TV into a spectacle of hate for millions to see. Where’s the outrage from mainstream media? Where’s the tearful panel on cable news condemning threats against a president? Nowhere, because the target was Trump—and for today’s left, that’s always a free pass.
If this is what passes for comedy in Joe Biden’s America, no wonder so many people are tuning out. SNL’s ratings may keep sliding, but the depths to which they’ll sink to bash Trump seem bottomless. How much longer will real Americans let Hollywood celebrate violence against our elected leaders in front of a laughing crowd?
