Boston’s latest “woke” experiment just ran headlong into reality, and it got ugly fast. The city, obsessed with “sending social workers instead of cops,” learned the hard way that wishful thinking doesn’t stop a violent criminal. Over the weekend, a mental health worker and a police officer found themselves at the mercy of a madman waving a sword. This is the direct result of liberal politicians pushing soft-on-crime nonsense and treating criminals like misunderstood children instead of the dangerous threats they too often are.
For nearly forty minutes, Boston’s brave first responders tried to reason with the suspect. They knocked on the door, pleaded, and talked. But talking only works on people who want to listen—something progressives just don’t seem to get. As soon as the door finally opened, chaos broke loose. A mental health worker was attacked. A police officer got stabbed. Where was the “compassion” the left loves to preach? What really kept anyone safe during those long minutes—the clinician’s words or the police badge and gun standing behind them?
This tragedy exposes the fatal flaw at the heart of progressive policies. The left wants to replace trained officers with social workers and therapists, believing that hugs and conversations can fix decades of criminal behavior. They ignore the simple truth: violent people don’t care about your college degree or your “trauma-informed” approach. They see an opportunity to strike, and they take it while the rest of us pay the price.
While limousine liberals sit safely in their gated communities and shout about “reimagining policing,” everyday Americans suffer the consequences. Law-abiding citizens pay higher taxes to fund these useless programs and get nothing but bloodshed in return. Who benefits here? Not the taxpayers. Not the victims. The only people celebrating are the criminal activists and the globalist elites who want to see American cities spiral into chaos.
Maybe it’s time Boston—and the rest of America—stop gambling with innocent lives in the name of virtue-signaling. If progressive leaders want to send unarmed therapists into danger, maybe they should be the ones leading the way. Common sense and tough policing keep neighborhoods safe. It’s too bad our country’s ruling class is allergic to both. How many good people have to get hurt before the left admits their big ideas are nothing but dangerous fantasies?
