The radical left’s “defund the police” fantasy is officially coming home to roost—and the city’s summer fun might be the first victim. Anti-cop crusaders like Mayor Zohran Mamdani have spent years fighting the idea of hiring enough police to actually keep streets safe. Now, as warm months roll in, it’s not just crime running unchecked—basic summer events like block parties and concerts are under threat, too.
Let’s be real. Everyone knows illegal activity spikes during the summer. But thanks to ideologues who’d rather play politics than keep people safe, police departments don’t have the manpower to respond. It’s not just about catching bad guys anymore. We’re talking about block parties, parades, free concerts—classic American celebrations that now face chaos, violence, or even cancellation. Why? Because there aren’t enough cops to keep the peace when crowds gather.
This is liberal hypocrisy at its worst. The same politicians who beg for “equity” also pretend there’s no need for law enforcement. If something goes wrong at an outdoor event, who pays the price? It’s ordinary Americans. Fewer cops don’t mean fewer problems—they mean lawless streets and families who just want to enjoy summer stuck at home. Meanwhile, the “global citizens” in city hall pat themselves on the back for imaginary victories.
Let’s not kid ourselves. These anti-police activists don’t care about public safety. They care about scoring points with their elite friends. The people losing out are hard-working New Yorkers who want their kids to experience what a real community feels like. Yet the left is too busy pushing their anti-American agenda to notice the destruction they’re causing.
Block parties shouldn’t need armed guards. But you can thank Mamdani and his so-called progressives if this summer becomes one long, violent mess. When your cookout gets canceled and your neighborhood concert gets shut down, just remember: the left did this. At this rate, maybe their goal isn’t just to “defund the police”—it’s to defund summer itself.
