Michigan blows 51 million on electric car chargers while families struggle to pay their bills

Michigan’s liberal leaders just can’t stop wasting your money. Now, they’re dusting off $51 million in so-called “National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure” cash, ready to dump it all into flashy electric car chargers almost nobody actually needs. Americans are fighting sky-high energy bills, inflation, and crime, but apparently the Democratic agenda in Lansing is to please the eco-elite and globalists—not help hard-working families.

Let’s call this for what it is: another Biden-era, top-down handout for the wealthy Tesla crowd. These “investments” don’t help the average Michigan resident. Most folks in real America aren’t driving overpriced electric cars. They’re more worried about making groceries last until payday and keeping the power on. But somehow, the politicians pushing this rollout want us to believe these chargers are for “the people.” Give us a break.

The state got the green light from Washington bureaucrats to blow through the rest of these NEVI funds in 2026. Translation? The feds told Michigan’s big-government spenders: let loose and let taxpayers pick up the tab. Electric vehicles may be a pet project for out-of-touch liberals, but for families struggling at the pump, this isn’t a real-world solution. It’s virtue-signaling on steroids.

Let’s not forget who really benefits here. Global car companies and Silicon Valley investors—not the small business owner in Grand Rapids. Democrats keep crying about “equity” and “justice,” but when the cash starts flowing, watch who lines up first. The poor and middle class are left in the dust, while woke corporations cash in on new government contracts.

This is what happens when liberal elites call the shots: wasteful spending, empty promises, and lots of taxpayer money siphoned off for projects regular folks don’t want or need. Michigan deserves better. Why should Main Street foot the bill for Wall Street’s electric dreams?
