NATO just can’t seem to get its act together. The Secretary General went on television and admitted what many of us have been shouting for years: Some so-called “allies” completely dropped the ball during the war in Iran. Of course, we’re supposed to feel comforted that the “large majority” of European nations did the right thing. Seriously? Since when do we settle for most—not all—when lives and freedom are on the line?
This isn’t just a slip-up. It’s a symptom of a deeper problem inside NATO and a clear warning for America. Globalist politicians keep telling us that alliances are ironclad, reliable, and built to last. But when rubber meets the road, far too many European leaders would rather hide behind flowery speeches than honor real commitments. The elite demand American troops, American money, and American strength to clean up their messes. Yet when the going gets tough, only a handful actually step up.
Europe’s failure in Iran exposes a shameless hypocrisy. Our so-called partners are quick to point the finger at the U.S. for “destabilizing” the Middle East or “escalating” conflicts. But when chaos erupts, they suddenly remember they have planes, tanks, and trained soldiers sitting at home. Safe. Comfortable. Bought and paid for by American taxpayers. The left loves to preach about “unity” and “solidarity,” but clearly, that only applies when it doesn’t cost them a thing.
Just look at the way liberal bureaucrats twist themselves in knots to protect their image. Instead of calling out failure, they celebrate mediocrity. Instead of holding every member accountable, they praise the majority and quietly sweep the laggards under the rug. Globalist interests win out. America ends up shouldering the load again, while Eurocrats sip wine and pat themselves on the back for “almost” doing their jobs.
America needs allies who stand, not surrender. If this is the best NATO can offer, it’s time to seriously rethink who we trust with our blood and treasure. Why should one more U.S. soldier risk it all for partners who fold when it counts? Maybe the real “test” is whether America keeps paying the price for other people’s excuses.
