California officials excuse years of hospice fraud in shocking scandal

California’s Democrat leaders just can’t stop making excuses for their own failures. This week, the state’s Attorney General actually tried to brush off years—yes, years—of massive hospice fraud. Instead of being embarrassed about letting crooks rip off the most vulnerable, he claimed that the ballooning scandal simply shows how “big” the problem is. Excuse me? When did allowing rampant abuse become a good thing?

Let’s be clear: this fraud has been going on for years, while state officials did little more than virtue signal and point fingers. Seniors, the dying, and their families have been taken advantage of, all on the government’s watch. And now the top cop shrugs his shoulders and says this isn’t “a failure.” Only in Newsom’s California can open incompetence be spun as something to “learn from.” It’s pathetic.

This is classic liberal double-speak. Democrats refuse to take responsibility, even when their own policies make the mess. They’d rather make excuses than clean house. They love to talk about “systems” and “scales,” but what about accountability? What about actually stopping criminals, instead of writing them a blank check? Apparently that’s too much for progressive elites, who are always ready to explain away disaster.

The truth is, this kind of corruption keeps happening when big-government officials are more focused on “equity” and “inclusion” than law and order. They treat taxpayers like an endless ATM. The bigger the bureaucracy, the harder it is to keep track of the money—and the easier it is for scammers to make millions while politicians look the other way.

If California’s leaders can’t handle obvious criminal abuse in hospice care, what hope is there for solving anything bigger? The only “scope and scale” on display here is the size of Democrat incompetence. How many more scandals will it take before the left admits their big-government experiments have failed the American people?
