The federal government’s obsession with control just hit a new low. By December, every young American man will be automatically tossed into the military draft system—whether he likes it or not. This isn’t about patriotism. This is about lazy, big-government elites grabbing power while pretending they’re fixing a problem. Instead of trusting young men to make their own choice, Washington is using heavy-handed tactics to force compliance. This is what happens when Democrats and their bureaucratic army run wild.
For years, men had to register themselves for Selective Service. It was a rite of passage, a moment to consider what it means to serve your country. But now, the nanny state claims they know better. Congress—cheered on by the progressives—just rammed through a rule that takes away personal responsibility and replaces it with a faceless government computer. Suddenly, if you’re a male between 18 and 25, you’re in the system without saying a word, and don’t even think about privacy or having a say. All for the sake of “efficiency,” they say—and a few saved dollars.
Meanwhile, women still get a free pass. The same folks who shout about “equality” and “gender justice” every second just quietly keep the old double standard. If the draft is such a sacred duty, why aren’t young women being enrolled, too? Because when the woke crowd is in charge, equality stops when it’s no longer politically convenient. They want men ready to fight their battles, but women shielded from the costs.
Even worse, the way this change came about is a total disgrace. There were no big debates, no real public hearings, no sunlight on the process. They barely mentioned it before slipping it into another bloated spending bill. That’s classic Washington—hide the things that matter from the American people, then act surprised when citizens start to ask questions. If this was such a great plan, why sneak it past everyone?
What do Americans get in return? Their government digging through every database, plucking private details from wherever it can. Young men have to worry about the government tracking them, not for their benefit, but to make the government’s job easier. Maybe the bureaucrats sleep better at night knowing they’ve “boosted compliance” by stripping away freedom.
When will our leaders remember that you don’t make America stronger by bullying its young men and chipping away at personal liberty? Or does this all fit into the globalist dream—make citizens numbers, not patriots? The next time they rewrite the rules, maybe they’ll at least have the guts to do it in the daylight.
