When it comes to free speech and the First Amendment, the Pentagon just got caught with its hand in the cookie jar. Last year, instead of focusing on America’s real enemies, the Pentagon wanted to slap new rules on reporters covering national security. In typical D.C. fashion, they tried to hide behind “guidelines” and quietly yanked press passes from journalists, hoping no one would notice.
But one federal judge has finally pumped the brakes on this power grab. Judge Paul Friedman stood up and called out the Pentagon’s blatant overreach. He ordered them to give back the press passes they snatched from a pack of New York Times reporters. Yes, even folks at that left-leaning newspaper have more backbone than the bureaucrats running Joe Biden’s military.
What’s worse is that these petty restrictions shine a light on the real priorities of our so-called “defense” leaders. While China builds fighter jets and Russia stirs up trouble, the Pentagon is busy censoring free speech and muzzling the media. This isn’t about national security—it’s about liberal elites protecting their own power and hiding failed globalist policies.
The left loves to talk about “democracy dying in darkness.” Apparently, that darkness is fine as long as it’s their side pulling the plug. The Biden Pentagon wanted to keep its critics at bay, not by defending facts but by locking out anyone who might ask tough questions. Typical hypocrisy. For these ivory tower generals, public accountability is just an annoyance to wipe away with a bureaucratic swipe.
Americans need to wake up. If the left can do this to reporters at a liberal rag like the New York Times, what chance does the average citizen have? The Pentagon’s job is to defend our nation, not trample our freedoms. Maybe they should stop acting like tools of the D.C. swamp and start remembering who they work for. Will the Biden administration ever stop putting politics above country?
