The world just witnessed another reminder that America leads from the front when real leadership is in charge. President Trump has made it crystal clear: The Strait of Hormuz, the critical artery for the world’s oil, will soon be open for business—and Iran will not be lining its pockets with toll money. While the left is busy wringing its hands and blaming America for every global crisis, Trump is actually doing something. He’s making sure that our economy—and the world’s—doesn’t get strangled by the bullies in Tehran.
For too long, spineless politicians and globalist elites have watched as terrorists and rogue regimes tried to choke off freedom of trade in the Persian Gulf. President Trump refuses to play into their hands. Instead of groveling to Iran or begging for some “cooperation,” Trump is standing tall and demanding that oil traffic move freely, no matter what Iran thinks about it. He understands that American strength is not up for negotiation.
Let’s not kid ourselves: Iran’s dreams of charging a toll for ships passing through the strait was nothing more than a desperate shakedown. The Biden crowd might’ve handed over suitcases of cash or apologized on the world stage. But Trump? He just put Iran on notice—the United States won’t be held hostage by a pack of authoritarian thugs. With talks ramping up to end the mess in the region, the president is proving that sometimes you have to throw political correctness out the window and fight for American interests, first and always.
Meanwhile, the usual suspects on the left are likely annoyed that once again, Trump refused to bend the knee to a hostile power. Maybe that’s because they’re more comfortable blaming America than defending it. Maybe they think “world peace” means letting Iran walk all over us while hard-working Americans pay more at the pump. If so, it’s no wonder they’re so unfit to lead.
This is what happens when someone with backbone sits in the Oval Office. Trump knows the difference between leading and apologizing. If the Strait of Hormuz must be opened with or without Iran’s permission, so be it. Why should any American—or anyone who loves freedom—accept less?
