DC throws party to stop teen crime ends in chaos and eight arrests

While the liberals running Washington, D.C. keep telling us they know how to fix our broken cities, reality keeps getting in their way. This past weekend, the city poured taxpayer dollars into another feel-good event called the “Spring Teen Jam.” The goal? Keep teenagers out of trouble. The result? Eight kids arrested after violence broke out right outside the event’s doors.

This is what happens when progressive politicians decide that the answer to rising juvenile crime is to host a party instead of restoring discipline, respect for the law, and real consequences. The D.C. government’s answer to teenage chaos is throwing a dance party with loud music, snacks, and flashing lights—on the taxpayer’s dime. But surprise, surprise: instead of delivering “community unity,” they delivered police sirens and fresh criminal records for the next generation.

When is D.C. leadership going to admit their soft-on-crime approach doesn’t work? Crime in the nation’s capital is out of control, and yet the city’s Parks and Recreation department seems to think babysitting teenagers for a few hours can undo years of their own failed policies. No wonder parents are afraid to let their kids out after dark and businesses are fleeing for safer ground. No wonder the city’s population is shrinking, as families vote with their feet.

Liberals who claim to care about kids are the same ones who support policies that weaken families, abolish consequences, and encourage chaos in the streets. They never learn. The only ones who benefit from their clueless schemes are the companies cashing in on city contracts and the activists getting paid to “organize” instead of actually keeping kids safe.

Maybe it’s time the next event gets called “Spring Wake-Up Call.” D.C. doesn’t need more taxpayer-funded parties—it needs leaders with the backbone to put law and order above political correctness. Or is that too much common sense for City Hall to handle?
