Recently, the administration rounded up the student newspaper and comedy group after they dared to poke fun at leftist ideology with some April Fools’ Day jokes. Of course, instead of celebrating free speech, school officials rushed to attack and shame the students for so-called “racist” and “insensitive” humor. Once again, liberal crybabies proved they can’t take a joke, even if the punchline is aimed at their own nonsense.
It’s the classic left-wing playbook: ignore real problems, and hyperventilate whenever anyone dares to mock progressive dogma. The target? A comedy sketch that dared to lampoon “white lady liberalism.” Instead of using their time and resources to focus on academics or campus safety, university administrators launched an intimidation campaign against young comedians who had the spine to challenge the woke circus. Isn’t it interesting how the university bends over backward to protect hurt feelings, but can’t bother with facts, merit, or basic common sense?
To make matters worse, the student newspaper, instead of standing up for free speech, fell over itself to apologize. Now, they’re promising to drag their staff through not just one, but two—count ‘em, two—sessions of “diversity, equity, and inclusion” lectures a year as punishment for telling the wrong jokes. Anyone want to bet these DEI sessions will have zero room for questioning the sacred cows of leftist orthodoxy? The farce is complete when comedy is forced to attend re-education camp just for being funny in the “wrong” way.
Even among the school’s top brass, the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. One campus lawyer tried to deny there was any official investigation, while a senior vice provost suggested otherwise. That’s what happens when an institution is more obsessed with signaling its virtue than actually running a decent university. The message to students is clear: tow the progressive line or risk being dragged through the public square.
This episode is exactly why America’s universities have become laughingstocks. If a joke at the expense of liberal hypocrisy is enough to get you “investigated,” is it any wonder why real comedians steer clear of campuses? When did the land of freedom turn into a whiny playground run by humorless censors? Maybe the only real joke left is the one being played on the American taxpayer—forced to fund this embarrassment.
