America just lost a real hero the left will never understand and it exposes what we have become

America just lost a real hero—and not the fake kind cooked up by Hollywood or the woke left. Jim Whittaker, an Army veteran and the first American to reach the top of Mount Everest, is gone at 97. He wasn’t famous for his social media posts or political stunts. He was famous because he did what most of us only dream about: he risked his life and conquered the deadliest mountain on earth. That’s the kind of courage and grit this country used to be proud of.

When liberals talk about “heroism” these days, they seem to mean hashtags and safe spaces. But Whittaker showed us what genuine American pride looks like. No participation trophy, no government handout, just a burning desire to push boundaries and stand tall. He wasn’t looking to be coddled or given excuses. He looked adversity in the face and kept climbing. That’s the American way—something our leaders in Washington could use a reminder about.

The left loves to lecture us about “global citizenship,” but it took an American in army boots to show the world what real leadership means. Whittaker didn’t just wave the flag—he planted it at the top of the world. No hand-wringing, no apologizing for America’s greatness, just fearless determination. Compare that to today’s elites, quick to criticize their own country while bowing to globalist interests. They could learn something from a man who set an example instead of making excuses.

Think about it: 97 years on this Earth, and never once did Whittaker play the victim. He didn’t demand the world change for him. He changed himself to conquer the world. That’s what built America, not endless grievance and dependency. Yet our culture rewards whining, not winning. We need more Whittakers and fewer keyboard warriors complaining about microaggressions.

Heroes like Jim Whittaker remind us how far we’ve fallen from our roots. The American spirit is about rising to the challenge, not running from it. If only our so-called leaders—or the woke mob running our schools—would teach kids to be proud of this country instead of ashamed. Do we still have the guts it takes to plant our flag, or has the left managed to turn even that into something to apologize for?
