Colombia overrun by hippos thanks to liberal chaos and elite blunders

Colombia has a hippo problem, and once again, it’s obvious who’s to blame: left-wing incompetence, global chaos, and the legacy of a criminal who thought he was above it all. Thanks to the infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar and decades of government failures, the country is now crawling with so-called “invasive” hippos. These animals didn’t swim across the ocean by themselves—they were imported as exotic pets for the rich and reckless, and now regular Colombians are paying the price.

Instead of handling the problem with common sense and responsible management, authorities are going down their favorite path: mass euthanasia. Apparently, the only solution liberal leaders know is to cover up one disaster with another. These hippos, brought in as a symbol of insane excess, are now being wiped out just as ruthlessly—all because nobody in power bothered to think ahead or take swift action when the animals first started overrunning the countryside.

Let’s call this what it is: a symptom of globalist thinking run amok. Bureaucrats and out-of-touch elites are more concerned with their international image or ridiculous environmental summits than protecting the lives and livelihoods of everyday people. Colombian farmers are forced to deal with aggressive, dangerous animals, while the same crowd that lectures America on animal rights sits back and does nothing. It’s always the average citizens who suffer when the experts get it wrong.

And where is the international community now? Nowhere to be seen, of course. The same activists who cry crocodile tears for endangered species are silent as these oversized invaders destroy crops, threaten families, and force an entire country to take drastic action. The hypocrisy is stunning but not surprising.

This isn’t just a tragedy for Colombia. It’s a wake-up call for the world. This is what happens when lawlessness collides with bad leadership, and when liberal incompetence meets environmental chaos. Maybe next time, before importing wild animals—or wild ideas—places like Colombia should stop listening to experts and start using old-fashioned common sense. When will the left learn that you can’t fix a mess with more of the same failed policies?
