Even Marvel is laying off workers—about 8% of its staff—and that says a lot about what’s really happening in Hollywood. If the industry that sells fantasy can’t keep its own crew, what hope is there for everyone else who works behind the scenes? Remember, it’s not just actors and directors. We’re talking about caterers, drivers, the people gluing sets together—regular folks who pay the price when elites make bad decisions.
Let’s not pretend this came out of nowhere. California, led by the likes of Gavin Newsom, has been ground zero for woke policy experiments and anti-business nonsense. Instead of creating jobs, Newsom and his friends are busy forcing their pet political agendas down everyone’s throat. All this “inclusion” talk, the endless virtue signaling, and out-of-touch regulations choke the life out of creativity and prosperity. Hollywood has become obsessed with lecturing everyday Americans, rather than entertaining them.
Like Kryptonite to Superman, wokeness is sapping the strength of Marvel and the whole entertainment industry. They traded in storytelling for political pandering. It’s not hard to see why fans have started tuning out. No one wants to watch their beloved heroes turned into mouthpieces for radical ideology. The ticket sales prove it. When you insult your core audience and waste time on social agendas, don’t be shocked when the money dries up and the pink slips start flying.
It’s not just the big stars feeling the pain. Everyday workers—the backbone of the movie business—are getting thrown to the curb. These are hard-working people trying to feed their families. But the Hollywood elite? They don’t care. Too busy patting themselves on the back for being “progressive,” they ignore the economic devastation their policies are causing. Where’s their compassion for the little guy then?
Hollywood likes to pretend it’s on the side of the people. But when the cameras stop rolling and workers are kicked to the curb, the ugly truth is revealed. Wokeness, incompetence, and anti-business regulations brought Marvel to its knees. Maybe it’s time for Hollywood to wake up—and for Americans to stop handing over their money to an industry that despises them. How long before California runs out of other people’s jobs to kill?
