The world keeps pretending the Lebanese government can magically stop Hezbollah, but let’s get real—Hezbollah runs the show in southern Lebanon, not Beirut. Lebanese leaders don’t even pretend to control this terrorist army sitting right on Israel’s doorstep. The only force with the guts, power, and moral authority to dismantle Hezbollah is the Israeli Defense Forces. And unlike the hand-wringing crowd at the United Nations, Israel actually understands what’s at stake.
While Western liberals sip their lattes and cry about “peace processes,” families in northern Israel sleep in bomb shelters. Let’s not kid ourselves: Hezbollah isn’t some misunderstood political group. These are Iranian-backed radicals with rockets pointed at civilian neighborhoods. So where are the “international peacekeepers” now? Too busy holding useless meetings and posting empty hashtags.
The truth is, global elites and soft-handed talking heads want Israel to just sit back and let Hezbollah fester like a sore that never heals. They expect Israel to play nice while terrorists dig in deeper. But Israel knows that waiting around for the Lebanese government to show some backbone is a fool’s game. No amount of U.N. speeches or empty resolutions will keep Jewish families safe—only strength and decisive action will do that.
Yet, the hypocrisy from Western progressives is staggering. These so-called “human rights” champions whine about Israel’s right to defend itself, while turning a blind eye as Hezbollah smuggles in Iranian weapons. They demand “restraint” from the only democracy in the Middle East, as if surrendering to terrorists is a virtue. Maybe they’d feel differently if Hezbollah rockets were landing in their own neighborhoods.
Israel has never shied away from doing what needs to be done. And if the Lebanese government and the world community continue to sit on their hands, Israel will do what no one else has the courage to do—protect its citizens, destroy terror at the root, and stand up to bullies in the backyard. Maybe it’s time for the armchair critics to ask themselves: Would they trust their safety to a government that won’t even control its own land?
