The latest public-school calendar for New York City is nothing short of a slap in the face to every parent who actually values education. Instead of focusing on putting American kids first, the city’s school system seems proud to put woke agendas, endless days off, and special interests way ahead of student learning. This is the way the radical left runs things—kids come second, if that.
Hard-working families are fed up. They expect schools to challenge their kids, not let them sit at home every other week because of so-called “holidays” no one’s heard of. But the bureaucrats running these schools couldn’t care less. For them, it’s about appeasing activists and checking off boxes on some globalist calendar, not preparing the next generation for success.
It’s as if these liberals are allergic to common sense. They throw out more excuses to cancel class than actual lessons. Parents don’t want an endless parade of days off—they want their kids in school, learning the basics: reading, math, real history, and the values that made this country strong. But don’t hold your breath waiting for NYC’s education bosses to respect hard work or put American excellence first.
The hypocrisy is stunning. These same city officials love to talk about closing the “achievement gap.” Yet, every time they add another day off or push more political “awareness” days, students fall further behind. Maybe that’s the point. The left calls it “equity”—most Americans would call it lowering expectations until everyone fails together.
If they truly cared about kids’ futures, these city leaders would slash the pointless holidays, cut out the activist nonsense, and get back to good, old-fashioned teaching. When will parents say enough is enough and demand that schools put learning before leftist grandstanding? NYC kids deserve better than this charade.
