California gas prices are soaring thanks to liberal tax hikes and Congress can stop the madness

If you think California’s gas prices are insane, you’re right. The Golden State is leading the nation in driving up costs at the pump, all because out-of-touch liberals in Sacramento keep piling on tax after tax. It’s not enough that families are already struggling to get by. No, the left wants you to cough up even more every single time you fill up your car.

Here’s the truth: California politicians have been jacking up gas taxes for years, lining their pockets while regular Americans foot the bill. These sky-high taxes now add over a dollar per gallon in some places. For families commuting to work and driving kids to school, this can add up to thousands each year—stolen from hard-earned paychecks by radical, globalist policymakers who claim to be “saving the environment.” Meanwhile, elite liberals zip around in Teslas, pretending they care about the little guy.

But there’s a way out—and it starts in Congress. Lawmakers in Washington have real power to put the brakes on California’s gas tax madness. All it would take is a federal law capping states from charging more than 50 cents per gallon in taxes. Why should any state bureaucrat have the power to drain your wallet for their own pet projects? Shockingly, there’s nothing stopping states like California from jacking up taxes even higher unless Congress steps in.

Of course, the left is already whining about “states’ rights” and “climate change.” That’s rich, coming from the same people who love using Washington to cram their agenda down everyone’s throats. Liberals pick and choose when they care about federal power—and it’s always when it helps their big government schemes. When it comes to protecting working-class Americans from tax abuse, suddenly the rules change.

If Congress truly cares about Americans, they’ll step up now. No state should be able to rob its people blind just to score points with environmental extremists and globalist elites. Nobody voted for expensive gas and empty promises. When will the politicians start listening to the people instead of their eco-zealot donors?
