Albany delays cost you cash while politicians protect lawyers and block lower auto insurance

Albany is at it again. New York’s so-called leaders can’t even finish a budget on time—nearly a month late—because they’re too busy protecting the fat cats who line their pockets: the lawyers. Governor Kathy Hochul has put a common-sense plan on the table. She wants to crack down on auto insurance fraud and actually lower costs for regular New Yorkers. But Democrats are tripping over themselves to block her. Why? Simple. To protect their lawyer buddies and keep the cash flowing.

That’s right. If you’re tired of sky-high auto insurance bills in New York, don’t blame greedy companies—blame the politicians and the lawyers who feast on fraud and loopholes. Hochul’s plan would target the scammers who drive up costs for everyone else. But who’s standing in the way? The very people who claim to champion the “little guy.” The left loves to act like defenders of the working class, but when it comes down to it, they always side with trial lawyers over hardworking families.

Think about who actually pays the price. It’s not the lawyers getting rich off lawsuits. It’s the single mom paying extra every month just to keep her car on the road. It’s the small business owner trying to cover delivery vans. Albany’s progressive politicians have no problem letting those New Yorkers struggle, just as long as their legal pals keep winning big settlements and campaign donations.

This is liberal hypocrisy at its finest. The progressives who preach “fairness” turn a blind eye to corruption in their own backyard. They talk about protecting the people but leave them to drown under pointless red tape and inflated premiums. Why should regular folks have to foot the bill just because some lawyers don’t want their gravy train to end?

The longer Democrats stall, the clearer it is whose side they’re really on. This isn’t about helping drivers or building a better New York. It’s about keeping the money in the hands of the liberal legal class. Why else would anyone fight a plan that cracks down on fraud and actually saves people money? Only in Albany could saving money for families become something to fight against. Who benefits from blocking real reform? Not drivers, not taxpayers—just lawyers, and, of course, the politicians they bankroll. Isn’t it time regular New Yorkers stopped getting played?
