They spit on the idea of rural America and blue-collar values, then pretend they care every four years when it’s time to beg for votes they don’t respect.
Look no further than the embarrassment coming out of Virginia. A Democrat state senator actually claimed he understands rural Americans because he watched a few TV shows from the 70s and 80s. That’s the liberal version of “doing research.” Watching old reruns of “The Dukes of Hazzard” and “The Waltons” apparently makes him an expert on country living. Leftists would have a total meltdown—screaming “racism” and “ignorance”—if a Republican claimed to know about city life just by binge-watching a violent crime drama. But when their own does it? Cue the laugh track.
This isn’t harmless ignorance. It shows how little respect Democrats have for anyone living outside their woke, urban bubbles. They’re happy to slap stereotypes on rural Americans, reduce farmland people to punchlines, and pretend outdated sitcoms count as “understanding.” Meanwhile, actual working families get left in the dust as Democrats chase Hollywood checks and push their globalist, anti-American agenda.
Even the timeline is a joke. Those old shows were canceled before most of today’s audience was even born. Rural America isn’t a dusty TV set. It’s hardworking men and women who feed the country, raise strong kids, and protect core American values—even when Democrats call them backward or “deplorable.” These voters remember what the Democrat party used to sell: respect for their lives. Now, they’re just a laughingstock to the left.
Liberals claim they care about “lived experiences,” but only when it fits their narrative. Their hypocrisy is stunning—and it’s no wonder people across rural America are waking up. Why should they keep voting for a party that openly mocks them, undermines their way of life, and treats them like side characters in someone else’s movie? Maybe that’s the real question Democrats are afraid to answer.
