What’s going on at American universities these days? At UC Berkeley, students just hosted an event starring a convicted terrorist. That’s right—Israa Jaabis, a Palestinian woman who tried and failed to blow up Israeli police, showed up on campus to speak after being released from prison in a political deal. This isn’t some “alleged” controversy. She was put behind bars for good reason. Yet Berkeley students rolled out the red carpet for her as if she were some kind of hero.
What did the university do when this blew up in the news? Did they apologize—or at least show some basic decency? Of course not. Berkeley hid behind the same tired excuse: “free speech.” They claimed the school couldn’t take sides, acting like letting a terrorist take the microphone on a public campus is no big deal. How convenient. If a conservative dared to question gender ideology or expose election fraud, that same “free speech” would vanish in a heartbeat.
The truth is plain as day: these left-wing institutions pick and choose their outrage. Their “tolerance” is a sham. They’re quick to silence conservative voices and everyday Americans. But if a radical, or even a failed suicide bomber, comes along with an anti-Israel, anti-West message, they get a special invitation. This is not diversity of thought. This is the celebration of extremism, and taxpayers are footing the bill.
How did we get here? American higher education has become a playground for activists who hate this country and everything it stands for. Globalist professors and administrators teach our youth that America is the problem—and anyone who opposes “the system,” no matter how violent, deserves a platform. We’re told this is about “debate” and “critical thinking,” but let’s call it what it is: the normalization of terrorism.
Parents, donors, and lawmakers should be outraged. Our universities have gone from places of learning to training camps for radical ideas. If Berkeley’s answer to Hamas terror is to hand the mic to their supporters, what’s next? Maybe UC Berkeley will set up a scholarship for failed terrorists, too. At this rate, nothing would surprise me.
