Chicago cop murdered by repeat felon as soft on crime policies put another hero in the grave

Yet again, Chicago is flooded with grief and anger after a police officer was gunned down over the weekend. The killer? A criminal who should have been behind bars a long time ago. But in a city run by soft-on-crime leftists and activist judges, dangerous felons are given endless second chances—while law-abiding citizens and brave officers pay the ultimate price.

This isn’t some random tragedy. This was predictable. The suspect, who isn’t being named because charges in the shooting haven’t yet been filed, already had a rap sheet that looked like a career criminal’s résumé. He attacked people, robbed them, escaped monitoring, broke parole, and kept getting arrested for serious felonies like armed carjacking and armed robbery. Each time, leftist policies and activist judges found an excuse to let him walk. Cook County’s “catch and release” system doesn’t just fail. It kills.

How does this even happen? This suspect ran wild in Chicago for years, got slaps on the wrist, and ended up being trusted with a simple ankle monitor while he racked up more crimes—including assaulting correctional officers. Even after all that, he was repeatedly freed by Judge John Lyke. If liberals worked half as hard to protect Americans as they do to coddle criminals, maybe Officer John Bartholomew would be alive—and his partner wouldn’t be fighting for his life in a hospital bed right now.

But the left doesn’t care. They bend over backwards for repeat offenders, thanks to globalist-backed district attorneys and ever-so-woke policies that value criminals’ “rights” over American lives. In Illinois, thanks to ridiculous sentencing reductions and endless early releases, justice is a joke. These so-called “reforms” guarantee monsters like this suspect get out of jail faster than their victims can heal.

Let’s call it what it is: Democrat policies have turned Chicago into a criminal’s playground, where the only people paying the price are those trying to keep order. The left’s obsession with “equity” and “social justice” has become a death sentence for heroes like John Bartholomew. How many more police officers have to die before the liberal elite admits their ideas are a disaster? Or do they just value criminals more than the rest of us?
