Once again, the disastrous results of letting Democrats run the show are staring everyone right in the face. Just look at what’s happened to Asheville, North Carolina. Once, it was a charming mountain city that drew in visitors for its beauty and small-town feel. Now, after years of liberal rule and “woke” policies, it’s become a cautionary tale for the rest of America.
When Hurricane Helene hit, Asheville got national attention—for all the wrong reasons. Residents lost water, power, and basic infrastructure. Liberals claimed what the city needed was more taxpayer money for things like “public radio.” Apparently, that was supposed to save the day. But NPR didn’t hand out drinking water or fix busted roads. The people were left stranded, desperate, and caught in the crosshairs of progressive incompetence.
Of course, Asheville’s fall didn’t start with a hurricane. It started years ago, when the city council decided to put the feelings of criminals above the safety of families. The police department, gutted by anti-cop rhetoric and “Defund the Police” lunacy, stopped answering many 911 calls. Crimes that once would have drawn a swift response became just another sad part of living under Democrat leadership. Residents started to see what happens when social justice becomes more important than actual justice.
Walking through Asheville today is like stepping into the worst parts of San Francisco or Portland. Homeless encampments choke the streets. Panhandlers and addicts clash in the open. Families used to gather for bluegrass music and community festivals. Now, parents avoid downtown altogether. Traditional Southern life, with its roots and pride, has been pushed out and replaced with chaos—and liberal transplants who couldn’t care less about local culture.
The sad truth is, Asheville’s failure is not an accident. It’s a direct result of years of leftist policies that reward bad behavior, ignore mental illness and addiction, and punish the people trying to build safe, prosperous communities. The local government keeps doubling down, doing the same thing over and over again, blind to reality. The old Asheville is gone, and unless people wise up and vote real Americans into office, the rest of Western North Carolina is at risk of falling into the same mess.
This is what happens when Democrats get their way. When will people stop letting the radical Left ruin everything good about this country?
