The attempted attack at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner should have been a wake-up call for every American who still believes the elites in Washington know what they’re doing. Instead, it’s just another episode of embarrassing incompetence that nearly cost a Secret Service agent his life. Yes, thank God for that bulletproof vest — but let’s not ignore the real issue: a shooter almost made it into a room full of politicians, journalists, and the President himself.
Let’s not sugarcoat the facts. The so-called “security” at the Washington Hilton was a joke. Hotel guests were breezing in and out, their luggage unchecked, while the so-called professionals in charge of keeping order were blind to a would-be assassin charging at them. It’s not like the guy hid under the radar. He traveled across the country to pull this stunt and only got stopped by pure stupidity: he literally tripped. That’s the level of border control you’d expect at a Democrat-run city bus station, not a high-level event with the President.
And now, we’re left with more questions than answers about how a Secret Service agent got shot. Was it “friendly fire”? The bureaucrats put everyone on gag order. The video that’s making the rounds is even more telling. Officers are shown distracted, backs turned, having a chat, completely unaware of the armed man racing at them. When they finally do react, one officer fires wildly — right into the line of his own colleague. Shockingly, nobody manages to stop the shooter with a shot. The only person hit is one of their own. If this isn’t the perfect picture of government “efficiency,” what is?
This goes deeper than one chaotic moment. There are whispers of pure dysfunction festering inside the Secret Service. Internal squabbles. Low morale. Is anyone surprised? Look who’s been running the show the last few years — woke radicals, power-hungry globalists, and progressive bureaucrats who treat national security like a diversity seminar.
Instead of holding these agencies accountable, the media and leftist establishment rush to cover their tracks and distract with feel-good stories about recovery calls and bulletproof vests. Here’s a better headline: Why was a man hell-bent on violence able to walk right up to the President’s event without anyone noticing? Why did security stop at the sidewalk? Why does the Secret Service, with its endless funding and Hollywood reputation, end up shooting their own on a night when it absolutely mattered?
Americans are tired of seeing our protectors water down their mission to serve political correctness while letting security crumble. At the end of the day, the bulletproof vest did its job. Too bad the same can’t be said about the people wearing the badges. Has Washington ever looked more useless than this?
